Welcome! Here you can find out more about the person behind the creations...

My name is Tania, I live and I make my creations in the South of France. I hope you will enjoy your visit here and immersing yourself in my creative world for a moment. Read on if you would like to know a bit more about my story…

A need for creativity that was put off for too long

I have always loved drawing and creating things, but I have had long periods when I was not creative, and it took me a long time to come to the idea of turning it into a job. When I was a teenager, I considered studying art, but moving house put an end to that plan. Lacking confidence in myself and in my creative abilities, I didn't really think about pursuing anything in that field. What's more, I was not really drawing any more, a hiatus that lasted for 6 or 7 years. After those long years, I finally got back to drawing for pleasure, little by little. After studying English, I worked as an office assistant.

A life change

After a few years, I felt like doing something more creative and imaginative. I think a lot of people can relate to this situation: you get tired of spending the whole day just working on a computer, and you feel like doing more manual work, working directly with a material… (although of course the hours spent in front of a computer don't disappear when you set up your own small business!) In the meantime, I had (re)discovered the pleasure of creating things in volume, starting with gifts made of air-dry clay for my loved ones. I discovered that clay modelling is a wonderful technique for expressing yourself and bringing your imagination to life. And by switching to traditional clay (which undergoes two firings), I have come to appreciate this technique even more, as the material feels different from air-dry clay and offers more freedom. I also changed my lifestyle, moving house and then, a few months later, setting up my own small business. And so Tania Thai creations was born in March 2024. After years of contemplating, from some distance, the idea of working in a creative profession, I'm happy that something clicked and I finally took the plunge, despite the inevitable doubts and difficulties. And I can only encourage you if you have a similar dream... Let's dare to follow our intuition; let's dare to try things!

Learning and inspiration

I have no formal training or specific diploma in ceramics. I attend workshops/classes when I can alongside ceramists with valuable experience, and of course I find lots of resources and advice online from people who generously share their knowledge. Ceramics offer a huge variety of creative possibilities, and there are lots of things I would like to try. I'm only at the beginning of the road, and it is very exciting! You could say, though, that I am more inclined towards a certain type of creations: I like making rather small decorative objects, sometimes with meticulous details, I admire the art of miniature... I like the idea of exploring this art in ceramics and in my own way. As for my inspiration, at the moment my starting point is often something emotional or sentimental: the people or animals I love, a memory... In any case, I want to keep myself free to follow my future inspirations, whether in ceramics or in another medium.
